What snacks did you eat when you were young?
Hmm, well, as a child, I enjoyed having ice lollies in the summer when it was really hot and the sun was blazing. I remember that quite clearly, and I also liked something called spicy strips all year round, but it could be dried strips of different types, such as pork or a type of plant.
The ice lollies were colorful, rosy pink, and grass green…and inexpensive and I remember we could buy 5 with just one Yuan, and my sisters and I would walk like 4 kilometers to town just to buy 2 ice lollies for each girl, and of course, they’d be gone before we reached home.

When do you usually eat snacks now?
These days, I rarely eat snacks but when I do, it’s usually during my night walks with my husband around 10.
There’s a 24-hour convenience store near our apartment and so on our way back from strolling, we sometimes end up buying two ice creams, his being chocolate and mine green bean. Oh, and I also like sunflower seeds.
I can go ages without eating them, and then for a couple of weeks I can devour bags of them, and that would usually be in the evening when I’m reading.

Do you think it is healthy for you to eat snacks?
I think it depends on the type of snack. If it’s fruit, then they’re healthy to eat as a snack.
And for me personally, I don’t eat anything with sugar, except natural sugar in fruit, so I don’t think they are bad for me, mind you, I have to confess, sometimes I want to buy cakes that have a filling inside, but in the end, I usually restrain myself.
So, overall, I’d say the snacks I have are not unhealthy.

What snacks do you like to eat?
As I just mentioned, these days I occasionally eat green-bean-flavored ice cream and also sunflower seeds once in a blue moon. Other than that, I enjoy anything spicy, for instance, spicy chicken feet and duck neck, spicy squid, and spicy chips. And as said, I like fruit as a snack, such as grapes or melon.

Did you often eat snacks when you were young?
Yes, I think so. When I was a kid, I always had this insatiable appetite for snacks. And to be able to buy spicy snacks, I developed the habit of saving hard-earned pocket money.
Once a week or so, me and my sisters would buy different snacks and share them together. That would always be one of the happiest moments of the week.
